Ms Perfect is presently studying at The Babraham Institute, Cambridge, carrying out research for her PhD. She will submit her thesis entitled “The effects of ageing and Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome on gene expression and genome organisation” in March 2013. Ms Perfect is skilled in the analysis of gene expression using next-generation sequencing and microarrays. She has experience of many techniques related to the analysis of gene expression patterns and genome organization, including RNA and DNA FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridization), chromosome painting, RNA TRAP (tagging and recovery of associated proteins) and qRT-PCR. After graduating from her degree in Genetics, she worked for a year in the University of Cambridge Department of Genetics on yeast cell cycle control, gaining experience of yeast-handling techniques and western blotting.
